Singing in the Care Homes
9th December 2021
This time last we Hilary and I were busy providing singalongs via Zoom to care homes across the country. Whilst it was great to keep singing and make contact with the staff and residents, it was even better to be able to return in person. In the summer we were able to provide live singalongs in the gardens at two of our favourite Salvation Army homes in Edinburgh.
In Davidson House, we responded to a special request from the husband of his 98 year old wife. It was their wedding anniversary and we sang and played "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose". This beautiful Burns song was their song and held special memories. It was great to see her respond and yet even with her advanced state of dementia, she clearly recognised the precious memories that the song triggered. This was a beautiful moment.
